The day before SS launch
Jaipur Mini Marathon – Run for green rajasthan…
We were prepared for this. Prepared means we went to bed around 2.30 in night. got up at 6 in the morning that also because of Ronak who was quite terrified by his weird dream about running in second shift and few kilometers more on getting late at site.
In morning we realised that you need shoe also to take part in race. After some treasure hunt at home I managed a spare sport shoe.we were supposed to be at Vidhansabha road at 6.30 which was the start time of race ,as published by Time of India, the curator of event.
It was different, entirely different. I had heard ppl saying about the peaceful mornng atmosphere, morning walks benefits and all those feelings were quite prevalent that time, atleast for me who doesnt even get up if someone doesnt try. we took an auto, vaibhav was waiting for us at next signal, barefoot, we were carrying one more pair for him. Thanks to Indian scenrio and Indian chief guests’ busy time schedule we were able to make it before time. 
Some times these things make your work. So we were at vidhansabha at 6.35. The place was full of hoardings, banners. Marketing people don’t forget these types of events. or I would rather say these events are organized only to advertise other products.
We got energized at the sight of free Tshirts. Its like you could do any damn thing for a free tshirt or a heavy refreshment. within few minutes I was a notice board advertising Times of India and Jaipur Development Authority in front and Green Rajasthan in back, the main agenda of whole event. Anchors were trying hard to make people feel good, energize them, and most importantly make them aware of the cause “Climate Change and Green Rajasthan” so that these after FreeTshirt people do not forget why they have come and they should continue thinking about the global warming issues. Yes I am not wrong here only thinking, not doing anything as we have already voted and elected our government few months back to DO things.
so finally after few cliche speeches we left the Unrunnable people, which were there only to deliver their few divine words, I think it was 7 o’ clock, not sure as hiren was the only person which had time,I mean cell and couple of hundred bucks also at the back of battery of his cell(God didnt gift him Pockets…) he got up late as usual and was able to make some time out of his busy schedule somehow. He had to come for race when I delivered him half an hour lecture telling how important running is in burning fat, even though he had plans for a movie at 10 in the morning.He changed his plan from friday night to next day morning only because this time some one was ready to come with him.
So finally race started. people started running with full speed and got tired badly till the first check point only where we were welcomed by Saras Chach, I didnt like it, they could have given juice or something else but why chach. fget it.
It was entirely a different felling. People at signals are waiting for you to cross, all eyes on you full with quivers why are we running, what happened, types of questions were coming from all sides. Its good to be subject of discussion.After 3 checkpoints , when my feet were bagging me to leave them alone in rest for a while, I along with Ronak, completely sweat drenched, crossed the MNIT gate and yes it was over. Event was good, arrangements were good, at MNIT refreshment was waiting for us but thats not the whole point.
What about the trash these runners threw at road side , so many checkpoints but none had a trash bin. Organizing an event on the name of greenery doesn’t license you to do any environmental pollution.
if they had placed few bins at least 80% of ppl would have used them. I think the event was just another advertising stunt.
Any ways we stayed crippled for the whole day, thinking about it……
