Technology ruined us
In 21st century, where every trinket is blessed by technology, Education sector is also not left untouched. We don’t need to go out to meet our friends, we have phone we can talk to them, we have web cams, video conference can also be arranged. No need to go for a morning walk in fresh air, tread mills are there. Children don’t go out to play, they have all sort of games, Need for Speed, Call of duty, Counter Strike, they can have all the fun in home only. Where we are heading? Isn’t it ruining our lives, might be diminishing the gaps among people sitting 1000 of miles away but what about the person living next to you. Do you know him? Aren’t we cutting our selves from community life and getting more and more isolated by pretending to be in touch visually with rest of the world.
Technology is a tool, developed by human to make serve himself, to make his life better not to get addicted of it and being enslaved. But that is exactly what happening. Coming to Education World what we are planning to do in 21st century. We are trying to equip our teachers, students with the latest advancement in technology. Computers, laptops, wikis, blogs, wireless, amid all these we forget the main point that these tools are only to help teachers in their teaching activities and student in their learning activities. They are certainly not to replace the schools or the teachers. However easy to operate and best these tools may be but they cant think, they cant inculcate natural and behavioral skills among children, they cant make them inspire to do things, they cant encourage creativity and innovation. They can teach what to think but not How to think. These new tools could do one thing for sure, they could get you pass with good marks in standardized tests if that is all we want.
Books have also not done any less in spoiling us. Well books are the first to encourage private learning. Its not about the technology, it is about the teachers and children who should be aware of the latest trends and advanced tools of teaching and learning to make the education more interesting , creative and interactive too.
