PREFECT SCREENING- 3 IDIOTS
My colleagues here at schoolsearch and me, being big time movie buffs, had no chance of missing first day, first show of the latest Amir Khan release, 3 Idiots. The movie definitely reminded us of the good and the most happening times of our lives, the 4 years that we spent together in college. The glimpses of hostel life, the ragging, the not so fun filled yet funny practical labs and many more similar scenes made us nostalgic and wanting for the same life once again. We just got even more lucky and watching the movie was even more fun since we were together.
Yes, my colleagues at schoolsearch are as well my partners in crime in college, my best friends, my batch mates from the class of 2007.
The movie is a perfect depiction of the friendship and connections we happen to make in college & hostel life. More so, there was another reason for this movie to be a must watch. This movie clearly point out the issues prevailing in the education system in India today. The movie directly attacks the system which creates robots, and ambitious parents who insist their child do something they do not want to, even if it means losing the child to despair and death. It definitely does make a very strong point.
Not just this, the movie as well points at the prevailing race and meaningless competition to score some mere numbers, just being the main objective for a student. Semester after semester, a student keeps fighting and struggling in this race until he gives up. The grade system has engulfed so bad in our system that we have lost the idea of learning and success. Right now, all success means to us is scoring numbers in exams and thats about it. I believe there is much more in life and in the process of learning than just this very thing. One should be aiming at being excellent and passionate about whatever he or she does. Passion & excellence is what we must strive for, and this is what will define the meaning of success for us. Similar idea is as well derived from the punch line of the movie, ”chase excellence – success will follow”.
