Diminishing pedagogy standards..

Google Buzz

My freind Sahil always wanted to be in teaching profession. Yesterday I was at his home with his parents, having discussion about his plans to be a teacher. they were not quite enthusiastic about that.I was quite shocked at their first reaction – Why the hell you wat to be a teacher, Isn’t there anything else to do?
Whatever was that , it was certainly not pleasant to ears to hear this about most respactable and divine profession at the land of gurus where guru comes before God as he only leads you to that path. A famous hindi saying

Guru govind dau khade kake lagoon paavn, balihari us guru ki jinoon govind diyon milayee….

has lost its meaning.

his parents are not the only people to have these ear teasing thoughts. They tend to be quite practical when they advice others to be practical , as there is nothing in this profession. Well I was pondering over if they are wrong, but I couldn’t find uch convincing argument. sahil’s parents were not wrong. The attitude toward pedagogy has been changed. IN todays fast world where money speaks, pedagogy cant buy you the luxeries you always crave for, what other professions could buy you easily, thts why every one wants to be pragmatic about their decisions of choosing a profession. pale condition of teaching, diminshing respect toward teaching, with handful of enthusiastic teachers will ceratinly lead India to a better place. I dont need to throw any light , as truth is self evident.

Even in such bad economy if there is some business which is not hit, that is education as it is already quite withred and supply is much much less than demand. we dont have enough schools for our billions. on one sie we have deserted government schools  and other side we have thriving private schools. Well who enters in teaching these days? who dont have any thing else to do or not capable of doing any thing else.
This is not a priority profession. It doesnt buy you the self esteem like doctors, civil servants, engineers in society. Few good people even regret after coming into teaching. No Money, No career growth. and it is open for all. In gvernment school there are some criterias and minimum qualification needed, on the contrary, the flourishing private schools which provide all facilities from luxary bathrooms to AC classrooms except good teaching, they dont even bother to look into the academic qualification of teachers. Any labour contractor, a student who wants to do part time job, house wives with full of house pressure all are eligiblle unless they cant even pretend to teach and fool students  and dash the hopes of poor people who work hard to pay the fees of their child expecting one day their son will be a big man but they dont know that the future of their son and theirs is in hand of inexperienced and unqualified people who dont even know the T of teaching. they cant lead the students any where. they cant make them innovate, lead. they can simply make students cram few test books and grab a good grade in exams. On the top of it, these good minded souls sell the exam grades to students who come to them for tutions. I dont know even an overhaul of system can make things right here.
Can I have some solutions?
